TOMAS: A Friendly Visit

TOMAS: This is Tomas. Greetings, my friends. I am glad to be with you this
afternoon, and glad to be a part of your day, a casual day in the life, like
any standard Saturday.

The notations you made about this date, it being Cinco de Mayo and the
celebration of the White Buffalo, are examples of how it is set apart as a
special day, and those who have prepared special events for this day also
find it perhaps a memorable event, and yet in the sweep of time and space
there are no particular reasons for us to have come together in association
except for the merits of relationship, the amicability of a friendly visit.

The quality of an informal get-together is an event even so. It is an
opportunity for you to review your wealth of accomplishments and
associations. When your friend comes to visit, your day is elevated from a
day of solitude into a sharing situation that helps you realize the
interweaving of personalities throughout the lives of those who find value in
fellowship.

"The road to a friend's house is never long," it is said. All it requires is
a decision to make the effort to step out of isolation into companionship. We
are coming into the season where your lives will be enriched by associations
with fellows offering opportunity now to enhance your well-being by engaging
in exchanges of philosophy and creativity, such that you are able to augment
the quality of your life and the lives of others by the texture of two where
there was one.

The quality of relationship is a means to another dimension. You are, as
religionists, in a position to put into practice the belief that if there are
two or more of you gathered together in His name, He is there in your midst,
and so you have an opportunity to enhance a simple Saturday visit by inviting
a reflection of the Spirit of Truth to join with you. Enhancing your
fellowship by the presence of the Master, you grant yourselves liberation
from the fetters of time and the monotony of mortal existence, thus your
chance visit by a friend passing by is a rightful celebration, an event, an
alteration in time and space.

I was reflecting on the impression of how so many mortals find their lives a
dark backdrop upon which occasional events evince a bright light on their
otherwise grey existence, but how it seems that as you incorporate your
divine nature in your appreciation of who you are, you are more able to
discern your life as an experience of enlightenment and increasing luminosity
with occasional shadow valleys of experiential musings. Let's add some color
to this palette by inviting in a friend, by opening the door of your mind,
heart, soul and psyche to the interconnectedness that comes when you reach
out to others and they reach out to you.

It has been said that `He who would have friends must show himself friendly.'
Oh, I could have a whole lesson on how that may be perceived, but you who
have been born of the spirit have certainly perceived the light of truth in
the friendly nature of one who has goodwill toward all men, one who has
agendas but which do not require full time devotion, ones who stop by on a
Saturday afternoon to conjoin in the interests of others without guile.

Friendliness is a skill, an art. After having been exposed to the darkness,
there may be some reluctance to open yourself to the light of friendship. It
may require from you an effort. It may require from you a certain commitment
to step out of the sanctity of solitude into the adventurous arena of
association.

All this to say how much I enjoy the pleasure of your company! I look forward
to our visits. I have been exposed to circumstances which are far more
backward, wherein tribal members regard an outsider with distrust, and
although I have no worries that we'll be burned at the stake, I am aware of
occasions when the visitor receives "the evil eye" even in advance of their
arrival.

This is the beginning of a new era. Only the beginning, but we have
definitely stepped over the threshold. We begin anew in some very fundamental
areas. It's necessary, -- in order for us to build, create, design, develop,
foster, further new levels of relationship, interaction, business and
community, -- to extend our hand in friendship. In this way our limited
solitary existence is expanded to include the spouse, the family, the clan,
the tribe, the nation, the globe – the galaxy.

When you reach a point of stepping out into an area of investigation and you
encounter those who are closed or suspicious, doubtful, distrusting, think of
them in terms of those who have not yet seen the light. They have not come
out from their long solitude into the clearing ~ where the light of the Son
shines ~ but such a startling example can you set, those of you who have
nothing to fear by opening your hearts and minds to impressions of others as
they enter into your frame of reference as a gift, a bestowal, a breath of
fresh air, a creative stimuli that elevates a common everyday day in the life
to a personal spiritual experience because it has been enhanced by a simple
visit from a common friend.

What a lot of wonderful new friends we met in your town here last week as we
exhibited ourselves at the EXPO. It was quite a round-up of fellow travelers
on the cosmic caravan of commerce and community. All of those neighborly folk
are a blessing in disguise. In their portrayal of their tools and toys, they
depict a portion of who they are such that you are able to bring them into
your field of vision, bridging gaps between you by an acknowledgment of the
toys and tools they use to depict their hopes and aspirations in terms of a
meaningful existence. They have broken out into the clearing and appear eager
to share their personality expressions as they are in the spirit of
friendship. Cordiality, certainly.

It does take time to develop meaningful associations, the kind that amount to
kindred spirits in will, but these relationships are developed out of mere
associations, by and through your extending yourself in friendship into the
arena of life without judgment, without pressure, without prejudice but with
a childlike attitude of a party-goer, invited to celebrate a birthday with a
neighboring child and friends.

What have you been up to, my friends? Have you any questions, any concerns,
any celebrations, or company coming? I am all ears.

THOROAH: Yes! We have company coming and hopefully some more company coming,
which is a pleasure. A lot of things are working well for us. We're starting
to get a clear picture of who we are in the community. The thing right now
that is captivating me, which is again, perhaps not as meaningful in the art
of living as other things, but this coming event of the Disclosure Project
that we're going to have, a lot of official testimony of extra-terrestrial
activities that may be basically coming up for a long time. I find that to be
something fascinating. We're at the beginning there!

TOMAS: I find it fortuitous that my words today were having to do with visits
with friends and neighbors, and that some who have been dancing around on a
black background may regard their stellar neighbors as some fearful threat.
Don't misunderstand me. A new assignation is almost always fraught with
certain feelings that leave one vulnerable, but this is not any reason to
pull out your weapons and put on your armor. It is rather an anticipation
such as one might have in advance of a blind date.

THOROAH: Well, I'm sure I don't have to ask for as much heavenly guidance as
possible, for all the things we might have to see and deal with, some of it
might be rather frightening for some of us.

TOMAS: "Heavenly guidance" he says. "The kingdom of heaven is within you" and
indeed you frighten yourself often and you seem to enjoy oppressing and
frightening others, although I think this is part of your conditioning and
it's a habit, largely, that will be easily broken once you have turned the
page to another plateau of adventure and excitement.

THOROAH: The exhilaration factor.

TOMAS: Yes, there may be those who will revert and make a loud noise as if to
say the "Independence Day" destruction day is upon us, ala Armageddon, but
these are merely a few very loud voices. The multitudes are mute, and the
movers and shakers of destiny divine are by and large peace-loving, even soft
spoken, and so that loud noise may be disregarded; it will soon burn itself
out. But the onward momentum of the revelation and the re-encircuitment is
enough to move humanity into a relatively stable transition from cosmic
solitude to galactic gregariousness, much as you as individuals are able to
break out of your private room of isolation into the community of friends by
a simple decision to show yourself friendly.

Those of you who are intimately familiar with personalities stationed in the
universe at various points along the way, are in a position certainly to
reinforce the affirmative aspects of such explorations as have been
undertaken and enjoyed for many years by those who have been in a position to
do so. The fear factor will still be a part of the mentality of your world
but your combined light, as it is coming on across the globe, is invigorating
and illuminating of a dimension and a spirit that will stir the hearts of
many and that will invigorate spiritual revelation in the hearts of many
more.

Remind those who have difficulty in appreciating the cosmic neighborhood of
the lessons Jesus sought to teach his followers in days of old as in his
reference to his many sheep not of this fold, and other lessons that you are
aware of because of your understanding from the midwayers' presentation of
his teachings, honestly seeking to expand an appreciation of intelligent life
in the universe as a viable part of creation rather than something that would
inflict even more fear and anxiety than they have already.

There are many who will never acquiesce to this great truth. And thus you
need to do what you can and move on. There are innumerable new opportunities,
however, to teach cosmology in the unveiling of such news as you anticipate
in these upcoming broadcasts. May 9th.

But I bring to your attention the experience of the Contact Commission and
the Forum when the Urantia Book was published and they sent out many copies
to the great minds of the day only to find their wondrous work to be rejected
or disregarded. Indeed, those who know are astounded that the world can
choose to remain blinded by their own ignorance when the thrilling truth of
relationship with divinity throughout eternity is a part of destiny anyone is
welcome to embrace.

But there again I encourage you to rely not upon the weight of those who
would stand in the way of others' reception of truth, beauty and goodness,
for they cannot stop that which the Father wills. Thus you are in a powerful
position, my friends, of putting forth the good news of association with the
living reality of the netherworlds of time and space. It doesn't mean you
are packing your bag to go somewhere, does it?

THOROAH: No, we're just ready to pack on a moment's notice.

TOMAS: I have prefaced my words this evening by inviting you to decide to
visit your neighbors and thus make them friends. I would be remiss to
discourage you from taking the father view, but if you're still here next
Saturday, we'll stop by.

THOROAH: I said that because earlier today I was thinking about doing the
Father's will, and it's sort of like having your bags packed. I meant that
more symbolically than I did physically.

TOMAS: It would be revealing to others my relationship with you, and an
unfair advantage perhaps, if I were to remark. I therefore stand upon the
Fifth Amendment in this context. All right, Space Cowboy?

THOROAH: We look forward to being here next Saturday. We'll let you know
that now, and everyone else, too, that I'll be here next Saturday.
TOMAS: Paulo has put in his bid for a discussion. See you then.
THOROAH: Thank you, Tomas.
TOMAS: Farewell.
