TEACHER TOMAS
Topic: THE PULSE OF POLITICS

TOMAS: Good evening, faithful flock.  I am Tomas, your teacher, companion and 
friend.  Also with us this evening are legions of celestials helpers 
observing how your focus illuminates Urantia.  
All across the world today we have observed the illumination of the many who 
perceive of the 11-11 calendar date as being representative of celestial 
importance, and thus have contacted the highest concept in their own 
constructs in order to give thanks and praise to that which is the source of 
life and being.  Honoring all of those who have contributed to the light 
spirit luminosity today, we also give thanks for your yearnings to be a part 
of the march onward into a new social order, one which provides the priceless 
principles of truth, beauty and goodness in hopes of light and life in times 
to come.  

Of course, as our faithful students, who have begun to know and appreciate 
who you are in terms of your full selves, the integrated personalities that 
accept and enjoy the material life while recognizing a commonality born of 
your identification with spirit, but in advancing as individuals, it is a 
matter of course; in time it evolves into a paradigm where one must begin to 
be active in a range of ideology which meets with resistance or objection and 
so enters the pulse of politics.

Your conversations this afternoon are in line with the musings of many around 
the world who are also observing the American system of electing its leaders 
and bringing on a thoughtful and occasionally ferocious wave of energy and 
interest to the subject which is also on the lips, hearts and minds of you 
who imagine the potential of the brotherhood of man across the world as one 
people, even thinking in terms of one language, one purpose, one people.

We, your teachers, are in it with you.  That is to say we are going to work 
with you in your devotion to ideals that refuse to settle for less than all 
you can be as individuals, as family members, as community people, as a world 
among the universes of time and space.  "All that you can be" is a slow 
process.  Indeed, personal politics among the many parts of the whole are the 
basis of those groupings and philosophies that will move the mechanism of 
humanity forward in the world and with divine guidance, with appreciation for 
the diversity of approaches to pursuing perfection on and for Urantia.

Many years ago I spoke about courageous loyalty and discussed the 
characteristic of courage, putting in perspective the many levels of courage 
as it evolves, and indicated that in the realm of the mind is where the 
concept of courage becomes complex, inasmuch as a condition of mixed 
loyalties will create a conflict in the mortal that presents a cosmic 
problem-solving situation which may not be able to be resolved, and so our 
growth is forestalled, but ever is it also true that in compassion and 
understanding of the human condition, all the edges of justice are softened 
by an appreciation of mercy.  

You are beginning, in your human associations with each other, to perceive 
the overall organism of the organic growth of the Supreme and want to 
embellish it by your own contributions, and this is what we've worked for and 
hoped for in our efforts with you thus far and will continue throughout our 
assignment on Urantia, to bring about the potentials that will enable you to 
begin to reflect the purpose your world was designed for in the beginning.  
Everything is on schedule. 

I want to extend a hearty welcome to you who are here in person this evening, 
you who have presented yourselves in the spirit, and those of you who are yet 
to come in faith of our purpose.

Are there questions?

JAEL: It's hard to have a question when everything's on schedule.  I'm just 
so excited about the times.  

GINNY: If everything's on schedule – like for instance, I'm just using this 
political situation because it's a good example of where we are on other 
levels, I think.  How can – so ... This can't be resolved unless differences 
are – as each side recognizes that there is a higher purpose.  And that's the 
only way that differences can be resolved.

TOMAS: In the hearts and minds of the contenders, my dear, there is no higher 
purpose.  The holy grail is indeed before them, and this is a representation 
of all the ideals they have invested in, as you, in your personal politics, 
are representing that which you perceive of as the ideal.  You will recall, 
that which you believe in is that which you feel worthy of everyone else's 
acknowledgement also, even adulation, and it's disappointing to discover that 
other people may not have your perspective.  

But if in the long run the ideal is realized -- its reality is revealed and 
made a part of advancing reality -- it in turn is going to benefit everyone.  
In the long run.  It is what they call the greater good.  But everyone – 
Everyone –  in their thinking, and to the capacity that they are able to 
function, can present for your consideration, an interpretation of "the 
ideal" based upon their perspective, which is indeed unique in all the 
universe.  It is in this way that the diversity is integral.  But, in the 
appreciation of a relative perspective, in the end, all is in order and is 
leading you forth.  

It may not look like it, but you need to learn to trust and continue to 
follow your ideal, as, if your ideal is alive it will modify and grow to 
adapt to evolving perfection; it if is brittle and unyielding, it will 
crumble and fall away.  As you choose, you create, and make those decisions 
which further you or advance you in reality, and you who are desirous of 
being contributing members of your Father's purpose are mindful of His 
personal plan for you and are willing to go where it will lead
in order to teach and preach as you pass by, in order to learn how to be more 
perfect, and how to serve in the most effective and responsible and loving 
ways possible for you and for the circumstances which are presented to you 
for your consideration in your unfolding faith path.

While "all is wel"l, it is also Alive and well, therefore moving, and it 
cannot move without your contributions, and so, whether you err or not is not 
the important factor.  The important factor is that in your striving for 
perfection for yourself, for the Father, for creation, you are learning and 
growing, contributing and being all that you can be at any given time, any 
given point in time and space.  You thus need not be fearful of investigating 
service avenues or the political arena.  Whether that means being part of the 
town council, the committee at the office or a worker among workers, is 
immaterial.  As the famous widow who gave her tiny mites to the cause, your 
tiny mites also are great gifts to the Supreme which only you can give 
according to your measure.

And so while, in the overall,"all is well," in the interim are a million 
things to ponder in terms of the development of character and self-mastery 
and human political conditions and so forth.  This is where you will find 
invaluable assistance in and through the ministry of the midwayers who, 
although not perfect, not even well-trained, are at least older and wiser in 
their existence than you and are also eager to help bring about a new level 
of reality for Urantia. You thus are not without actual assistance, in that, 
the midwayers are material beings like you are.  

Maybe they have insight into your election; I haven't inquired.  I have no 
interest.  It is not a part of my assignment.  Indeed, this is a matter worth 
note, that since there are so many millions of people and everyone has a 
political point to make, there are millions of points that are probably none 
of your business, and how this would simplify mortal existence if they even 
understood the subtleties of what is their business and what is not.  I will 
not get into that, however.  I will let Aaron deal with that, perhaps next 
week.

THOROAH: That would be good.

GERDEAN: Aaron says, "Thanks a lot, Tomas."

JAEL: We almost heard it!

THOROAH: Let everybody know we're going to have a political science class 
next week.

GINNY: See, my view of all this stuff is, it's not just two contenders vying 
for a position; they symbolize something in us that needs to be looked at.

TOMAS: Yes, and this is why it is being discussed.  In fact, it is why the 
situation is in existence, so that that very concept can be looked at.  A 
world power such as the United States is accountable, and they indeed are 
representing ideologies of advanced government, and how they represent an 
aspect of government indicates the value of the system itself.  This is a 
preview of what will be expected in government in time to come.  Not just 
holding power, but having the self-awareness, self-discipline, self-mastery, 
self-consciousness, self-respect, and self-abnegation that will allow for 
appropriate use of such power.  

Each of you who have been the recipient of the authority of your own parents 
understand in your heart how Dad's authority affected you, and as you became 
an adult you were able to see that those attitudes reflected values.  In time 
to come humanity will be able to perceive values by studying the behaviors of 
the authority figures in question.  Not just the machinery they represent or 
the rhetoric they use, but actually who they are in terms of their construct 
-- their physical reality, their ideals, and whether or not that personality 
is sufficiently well-balanced and integrated to be the best possible 
representative of the approach that would be the ideal for the political 
circumstances of the advancing civilization over which it has command.

The same will be said for you, individually.  How you handle your politics is 
going to indicate how you represent what you hold dear.  

We will return to the discussion of rebellion at another time.  I am aware 
that many of you have acknowledged a rebellious nature.  That insight has 
given you mixed reactions.  We ask you to be enlightened in your assessments 
and accept humor in your many rebellious quirks because that is a part of the 
social dance you do.  The matter of rebellion of the nature that we will be 
mindful of, is not that kind.  You may eliminate that from your concerns.

I don't want to leave you with a feeling that you have been to a political 
convention or a ward meeting or even a committee meeting.  In coming here, 
you have come not just for intellectual understanding, but emotional 
satisfaction and spiritual food.  I am therefore going to allow your own 
essences to provide for yourselves in social company with each other, to 
partake of that reflection of divine love that flows so freely between you 
and among you as delightful sons and daughters of the Universal Father.  
Also, that gives you that emotional confidence and assurance that you, as 
brothers and sisters of this Eternal Parent, have affection, admiration, love 
for each other and joy in knowing the true nature of your relationship.
